We spent an extra day in Charleston to rest up and to celebrate Cathy's birthday. We started by having breakfast at the Variety Store at the Charleston City Marina. It is a tradition.
Cathy and I stayed on the boat most of the day doing various chores and I spent considerable brain power figuring out our route for the next few days. We decided to head down the ICW so we could stop at Beaufort, SC. Otherwise, the offshore route takes you far south of Beaufort and you have to double back.
I planned a two day trip so we did not have to push. I will describe the route in the next few posts.
I also have a close friend from Duke that lives in Charleston. Laura Moore and her husband Tyre came over to see the boat after work and then drove us to a restaurant called Five Loaves. The food was great as expected. We really enjoyed seeing and talking with Laura and Tyre. You never seem to lose that connection to old college friends. Good memories.
Basically, we had a beautiful day and I even completed my regularly scheduled fresh water flush of the water maker.
