On Thursday, 3/23, we left Lucaya with a fairly strong east wind. After motoring out of Bell Channel, we turned east and sailed (no motor) until Freeport. Sailing downwind in 4 foot swells was not very comfortable, so I tried broad reaches and straight down wind. By the time we reached Freeport Harbor, the connditions were pretty uncomfortable so I just turned on the motor. Once we rounded the corner and started heading north and passed the large land mass of Freeport, the east wind kicked up for an amazing beam to close reach to West End. The sail was amazing with our average boat speed about 8 knots ranging from 7.5 to 9 knots. We pulled into West End around 1:10 pm and settled into our slip. We went to bed early so we could get an early start the next morning.
