Log 25 Aug 14 - Progress day

Last night, we stayed in the High Tide Inn, which we booked on shot notice, but really enjoyed. The innkeepers were extremely nice and the setting was perfect. For the next week, we rented a house so we can use the food we already had on the boat.

We made some progress today on the inspection and repairs. We pulled the propellor shaft and after "rolling it" we found that it was not bent and looked fine. Whew!!

Because we were in between housing (homeless), I worked from the boat (down below). At one point, I looked up to see the boa lift going by one port and I thought we were about to be hit. They do precision work. They missed by inches.

Overall, sitting on the boat in the boatyard could not be better. The view of Camden harbor is spectacular as you can see from some of my pictures.

Visually, the shaft looks good and straight. This was confirmed with a roller test, but next we need to verify that it was not cracked in any way.

I was actually down below doing some consulting work when the lift went by the port above. I thought they were going to hit the boat.
Very close - "no problem!".
I ran up on deck and the lift was about to pick up another boat. The lift came within an inch of the side of our boat. Precision lift work.
