Log 26 Aug 15 - Teamwork
Today is Saturday and the two senior mechanics arrived at 7:00 am to remove the transmission and the forward engine mounts. To remove the transmission, they had to take out all of the exhaust hoses and water hoses. To replace the engine mounts, they had to jack up the engine using wooden wedges. Once the front mounts were replaced, the engine would be stable and they could begin working on the bell housing.
By the end of the day, the bell housing and rear engine mounts had been removed. The front engine mounts were partially installed while the back of the entine was sitting on a wood block.
Next, waiting for diagnostics on the transmission.
After lunch, we met Brian and Michelle our sailing friends from Norfolk at a marine in Rockland where their boat was hauled out for maintenance. After distracting them from their work briefly, we met Ray and Laura Ramage at the Rockland Boat Show. In addition to new and used boats, we could board the Bowdoin, a famous ship used to go to the north pole.
