Log01 Leaving Norfolk
Cathy and I loaded the boat and stayed on board Friday night. We departed Cobbs Marina in Norfolk about 9:50 am the next morning with our crew, David and Ellen Cavitt, and very light winds.
For the rest of the morning, our winds were so light that we took a few hours just to get past the CBBT. Once we were north of Cape Charles, the wind suddenly freshened and were were sailing along at about 7-8 knots.
We had a great first day with some thunderstorms chasing but never catching us. Apparently, the weather was pretty bad back in Norfolk.
The planned route
This is a high level view of our planned route around Nantucket and up to Rockland. Our departure was delayed until Saturday because the winds and tides were unfavorable Friday evening.
Just in time for departure to Maine
My new captain's license arrived 2 days before departure.

Slow Start
The first half of the day started out slow, but we picked up speed in the afternoon. We did not really seem to get that far. I guess it was perception.
