Log30 Aug 19 Fort Knox (in Maine)
Today, Cathy and I took a drive up to Bucksport, Maine to see Fort Knox. This is the most amazing feat of architecture. I had no idea. I think our history lessons always skipped over this part of our history.
Anyway, the fort is amazing. If you ever come up this way, you should stop here and take a half day tour of Ft. Know.
After the visit to the fort, we rode the elevator up to the Penobscot Obseratory tower. This was also fun, but a clearer day would truly be amazing. Basically, one of the support towers for the bridge had an observatory at the top so you can see the Penobscot River and the surrounding area. Beautiful.
From there we went across the river to the village of Bucksport for lunch. Quaint town, but not much for restaurants. The view of the fort was impressive.
