Log31 Aug 20 - Retrieving our boat parts
Today, Cathy and I had to prepare to move to a new rental home, so we packed up key items and moved them to the new location. The rental managers were very nice about letting us move our stuff in early. We still had food, etc. that we had taken off the boat that needed to be stored or refrigerated.
After that, we took a marathon trip from Camden to Stonington to Trenton and back. The purpose was to pick up the transmission from some experts in Stonington and then to pick up the prop shaft and prop from experts in Trenton. Even though these places are relatively close as the crow flies, getting there by car was a challenge. Our round trip was 5 1/2 hours long.
In the end, they found nothing wrong with the transmission or the shaft. The propellor was a little out of alignment, which they fixed. I guess that is one of those decisions you make. If we ignored the transmission and it had problems, we woudl hvae to take it all apart again.
Anyway, we have everthing we need now to put the engine back together.
